Support Caistor Cares and Kelsey Cares this Christmas with Amazon Smile

jamesUncategorized

With the country in the midst of a second national lockdown, fundraising for local charities is challenging, to say the least. However, those who use Amazon for their online shopping are now able to support local befriending charity Lincolnshire Cares directly with every purchase they make, without even having to dip into their own pockets.

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as amazon.co.uk. The difference is that when customers shop via smile.amazon.co.uk, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to Lincolnshire Cares, the registered charity based in Caistor that offers friendship and support to people over the age of 60 in various towns and villages in the north of the county.

Supporting couldn’t be simpler – doesn’t cost a penny! Before shopping for everyday items, Christmas presents or business needs, all you have to do is first visit https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ and click on the ‘get started’ button.

Once you’ve selected your Amazon account (if you don’t have one it’s easy to create one) there are just a few initial steps to follow to select ‘Lincolnshire Cares’ as your nominated charity. After this you will be taken directly to the smile.amazon.co.uk webpage, from where you can do your usual Amazon shopping, and support Lincolnshire Cares for free!

United Kingdom Charities have already received over £4.6 million by being registered in this way, so this is the perfect opportunity for supporters of Caistor Cares and Kelsey Cares to help fundraise for this much-loved and valued community service that offers friendship and support to people over the age of 60 in Caistor, Nettleton, Cabourne, North and South Kelsey and surrounding district.

Founder of Lincolnshire Cares (the official name for the registered charity) Chris Robey is delighted at the opportunities this partnership with AmazonSmile offers.

“Currently we are supporting double the number of senior citizens via telephone befriending, rather than face-to-face, because of the ongoing global pandemic and necessary social distancing measures. However, there are many more elderly residents in our local areas of Lincolnshire that will need our continued support, especially when we are able to be together again. Therefore, it’s great to know that we have a chance to raise some vital funds via AmazonSmile to help us provide our programme of coffee mornings, afternoon teas, summer and Christmas parties, and regular befriending activities when ‘normal service’ is able to resume.

“I would encourage anyone who shops online via Amazon to access this platform now via AmazonSmile and nominate ‘Lincolnshire Cares’ as their preferred charity. Registering couldn’t be simpler and in doing so, it will allow our organisation to benefit from 0.5% of the value of all purchases – which will help make a real difference to all those senior citizens at risk of social isolation during and beyond these challenging times.”
