Lincolnshire Cares Hosts Afternoon Tea and Talent Show – 22nd June 2025

On Sunday 22nd June, volunteers from Lincolnshire Cares hosted a delightful Afternoon Tea at Caistor Town Hall, welcoming 60 members for a special afternoon of food, fun, and entertainment.

Guests were treated to a delicious spread of sandwiches, sausage rolls, and homemade cakes, lovingly prepared by the charity’s dedicated volunteers.

In a heartwarming twist on tradition, the afternoon featured a Talent Show performed entirely by members themselves. Five acts took to the stage, showcasing a wonderful variety of talent – from heartfelt poetry readings to classic song performances.

Highlights included a lively rendition of My Old Man’s a Dustman by David and Louis King, unaccompanied Elvis Presley songs from John Clark, and a smooth selection of Frank Sinatra classics sung by Pete Grimshaw and Peter Coombs. Poets Carol Barnes and Alice Rainey also moved the audience with their thoughtful recitations.

Chair of Lincolnshire Cares, Julia Whittaker, praised the participants, saying, “Caistor really does have talent! Thank you to everyone who took part and made this afternoon so memorable.”

Julia also expressed her gratitude to the volunteers who support the charity throughout the year, and extended a special thank you to local business Systematic for their generous assistance with design and print services, especially as they celebrate 50 years in business. Founders Nick and Marilyn Robey were warmly welcomed as special guests at the event.

The afternoon concluded with a cheerful raffle draw, sending many guests home with prizes and smiles.
